Trade Spend
The money brands pay retailers to promote and stock their products.
Also known as: trade promotion, trade marketing
What is Trade Spend?
Trade spend is the money a brand invests with retailers to drive sales — promotional discounts, slotting fees, co-op advertising, and retail media — typically one of the largest and least-controlled line items for a CPG brand. Much of it is billed back through deductions, which makes it hard to reconcile against the promotions that were actually agreed. Untracked trade spend is where margin quietly disappears.
How Endless handles it
Endless ties deductions and remittances back to the invoices and agreements they reference, so trade spend that shows up as a deduction can be validated instead of eaten.
