EDI 999: Implementation Acknowledgment
A detailed acknowledgment that reports errors against the implementation guide.
Receiver → Sender
After receiving a functional group from a partner that uses 005010 or a later release.
What is the EDI 999?
The EDI 999 confirms receipt of a functional group and reports whether each transaction set was accepted, accepted with errors, or rejected, with the segment and element where an error occurred. It does the same job as the 997 but checks against the implementation guide the partners agreed on, not only the base X12 syntax. The 999 first appears in X12 release 005010 and is the standard acknowledgment in healthcare EDI.
How EndlessEDI handles the 999
EndlessEDI sends and tracks 999s for partners that require them, so a rejected document is flagged with the exact segment to fix.
