Cargo Cutoff
The deadline for a loaded container to reach the export terminal to make its vessel.
Also known as: CY cutoff, port cutoff, documentation cutoff
What is Cargo Cutoff?
A cargo cutoff, also called the CY or port cutoff, is the latest date and time a loaded export container can be gated in at the terminal and still be loaded on the booked vessel. Separate cutoffs apply to the shipping instructions, the verified gross mass, and customs documents. Missing any of them usually rolls the container to the next sailing, which can add a week or more to the lead time.
How Endless handles it
Endless keeps an ocean shipment’s planned dates next to the POs it carries, so a rolled sailing changes the expected arrival planners see.
