Carrier Booking Number
The ocean carrier’s reference that confirms space reserved on a vessel.
Also known as: booking number, ocean booking number
What is Carrier Booking Number?
A carrier booking number is the reference an ocean carrier issues when it confirms a booking for space on a sailing. The trucker uses it to pick up the empty container, the terminal uses it to accept the loaded container at gate-in, and the carrier uses it to tie the cargo to the eventual master bill of lading. When a booking rolls to a later vessel the number usually stays the same while the dates change, so the dates need watching as closely as the number.
How Endless handles it
Endless ties each inbound shipment to the POs and SKUs inside it, so a booking that slips moves the expected arrival of real inventory.
