Proof of Delivery (POD)

The signed record that a shipment was delivered, including any exceptions noted.

Also known as: POD, proof of delivery

What is Proof of Delivery (POD)?

A proof of delivery (POD) is the record that a shipment reached the consignee: for freight, the delivery receipt or bill of lading signed by the receiver, with the date, time, piece count, and any notes about shortage or damage; for parcel, a delivery scan with a signature or photo. A clean POD with the right piece count is the main evidence a supplier has when a retailer later deducts for a shortage, so retrieving PODs quickly decides whether the dispute can be won.

How Endless handles it

Endless keeps shipment records next to the ASN and the invoice, so the delivery evidence needed to dispute a shortage deduction sits with the order it relates to.
