ANSI X12
The dominant North American EDI standard that defines how business documents are formatted.
Also known as: X12, ASC X12
What is ANSI X12?
ANSI X12 is the EDI standard maintained by the Accredited Standards Committee that governs how trading partners in North America format electronic business documents. It defines each document as a numbered transaction set — 850 for a purchase order, 856 for a ship notice — built from standardized segments and data elements. EDIFACT is its international counterpart, more common in Europe and Asia.
How Endless handles it
Endless speaks X12 fluently across every transaction set a retailer program requires, mapping partner-specific quirks so a brand’s team never has to read a raw X12 envelope.
