EDI 214 (Transportation Carrier Shipment Status)

The carrier’s electronic status update on a shipment’s progress.

Also known as: 214, shipment status message

What is EDI 214 (Transportation Carrier Shipment Status)?

The EDI 214 is the shipment status message a carrier sends to the shipper, consignee, or broker. Each update carries the carrier’s PRO or tracking number, the shipper’s references, and a status event with a code, a reason, a date, a time, and a location, for example X3 for arrival at pickup or D1 for completed unloading. Shippers compare 214 events against appointment windows to catch late freight before the customer does.

How Endless handles it

EndlessEDI receives 214s and posts each status event to the shipment it belongs to, so late freight is flagged while there is still time to act.
