GS1-128 Label (Shipping Label)

The standardized carton shipping label retailers require, carrying an SSCC.

Also known as: GS1-128, UCC-128, carton label

What is GS1-128 Label (Shipping Label)?

A GS1-128 label (formerly UCC-128) is the standardized barcode shipping label a retailer requires on each carton, encoding data like the SSCC serial number, ship-to, and PO in the GS1-128 barcode symbology. It links the physical carton to the electronic ASN so the receiving DC can scan cartons in rather than count them. A wrong, missing, or unscannable GS1-128 label is a classic, expensive chargeback.

How Endless handles it

Endless produces retailer-compliant GS1-128 labels tied to the same SSCCs it puts on the 856 ASN, so the carton on the dock and the document in the system always agree.
