GTIN (Global Trade Item Number)

A globally unique product identifier used across trading partners and marketplaces.

Also known as: GTIN

What is GTIN (Global Trade Item Number)?

A GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) is a globally unique identifier for a trade item, administered by GS1, that encompasses formats like the 12-digit UPC and 13-digit EAN. Unlike an internal SKU, a GTIN is recognized across every retailer, marketplace, and customs authority, which is why marketplaces require it. Getting GTINs right is foundational to being scannable and sellable everywhere.

How Endless handles it

Endless stores GTINs on the canonical product record and pushes them into every channel and EDI catalog, so a product is identified the same way from the warehouse floor to Amazon.
