PIM

Product Information Management (PIM)

The practice and system for centralizing all product data as a single source of truth.

Also known as: PIM

What is Product Information Management (PIM)?

Product Information Management (PIM) is the discipline — and the system — for centralizing, enriching, and governing all product data (titles, descriptions, attributes, images, specs, pricing) in one authoritative place. It exists to end the chaos of the same SKU being described differently on Shopify, Amazon, a wholesale line sheet, and an EDI catalog. A PIM’s job is to be the single source of product truth that every channel reads from.

How Endless handles it

Endless bakes PIM into the commerce OS so product data isn’t a separate tool to sync — the catalog you sell from, syndicate, and send via EDI 832 is the same governed record.

Frequently asked

What is the difference between a PIM and an ERP?

An ERP is the system of record for transactions — orders, inventory, finance. A PIM is the system of record for product content — attributes, descriptions, images, and channel-specific data. Many brands run both, but a unified commerce platform can carry both roles.
