Last Free Day (LFD)
The final day an import container can stay at the terminal before storage charges start.
Also known as: LFD
What is Last Free Day (LFD)?
The last free day (LFD) is the final day a container can remain at a port terminal or rail ramp without incurring demurrage. The free-time clock usually starts when the container is discharged and available, and the LFD can move if the container is held by Customs or the terminal changes its availability. Missing it starts daily demurrage charges, and those charges compound quickly when a drayage carrier cannot get an appointment to pick the container up.
How Endless handles it
Endless shows each inbound container against its expected dates and the POs waiting on it, so the team can see which arrivals are close to running out of free time.
