EDI 417: Rail Carrier Waybill Interchange
Waybill data railroads pass to each other when a shipment changes hands.
Rail carrier ↔ Rail carrier
When a rail shipment moves from one railroad to another.
What is the EDI 417?
The EDI 417 transfers waybill data from one railroad to the next when a car or container is interchanged between them. It carries the shipment’s origin, destination, route, commodity, and references, so the receiving railroad can move and bill the shipment without re-keying it.
How EndlessEDI handles the 417
EndlessEDI supports the 417, so waybill data shared along a rail route stays attached to the inbound shipment and its POs.
