EDI 990

EDI 990: Response to a Load Tender

The carrier’s acceptance or rejection of a 204 load tender.

Direction

Carrier → Shipper / Broker

When it’s used

Shortly after a carrier receives a 204 load tender.

What is the EDI 990?

The EDI 990 is the carrier’s answer to a 204. It references the shipper’s load ID and returns one decision: accept (A) or decline (D), often with a reason and the carrier’s own reference number. A load is not covered until an accepting 990 comes back, which is why tender acceptance rate is one of the first numbers shippers track on a carrier scorecard.

How EndlessEDI handles the 990

EndlessEDI receives 990s and records each carrier’s accept or decline on the shipment, so a declined load surfaces in time to rebook.
