EDI 204: Motor Carrier Load Tender
The electronic offer of a truckload or LTL shipment from a shipper or broker to a carrier.
Shipper / Broker → Carrier
When a shipper or broker books a truck for a specific load.
What is the EDI 204?
The EDI 204 offers a shipment to a motor carrier. It names the pickup and delivery stops, the requested dates and appointment windows, the weight, piece count, and equipment, and the reference numbers each party needs to match the load later: the shipper’s load ID, the PO numbers, and the bill of lading number. Each stop gets its own loop, so a multi-stop truckload is one 204 with several stops. The tender is an offer, and the carrier answers it with a 990 before anything moves.
How EndlessEDI handles the 204
EndlessEDI sends 204 load tenders built from the purchase orders and shipment records in Endless, so every carrier gets the stops, dates, and references the warehouse is working from.
