What is the EDI 211?
The EDI 211 sends the bill of lading to the carrier ahead of pickup: shipper and consignee, handling units, weight, freight class, hazardous materials details, special instructions, and the payment terms (prepaid, collect, or third party). It replaces the driver keying the paper bill at the dock, which removes the transcription errors that later turn into reweigh and reclass charges on the 210.
