EDI 213: Motor Carrier Shipment Status Inquiry
A request to a carrier for the current status of a shipment.
Shipper / Consignee → Carrier
When a shipper or consignee needs a status update on a specific shipment.
What is the EDI 213?
The EDI 213 asks a motor carrier where a shipment is, identified by its PRO number, bill of lading, or other reference. The carrier answers with a 214. Shippers use it to request status for shipments that have gone quiet, without waiting for the next scheduled update.
How EndlessEDI handles the 213
EndlessEDI sends 213s for shipments that have stopped reporting, and the 214 that comes back updates the shipment in Endless.
