EDI 216: Motor Carrier Shipment Pick-up Notification
A shipper’s notice that freight is ready for a carrier to pick up.
Shipper → Carrier
When freight is staged and ready for pickup.
What is the EDI 216?
The EDI 216 tells a motor carrier that a shipment is ready: the pickup location, the ready time and dock hours, and the handling units and weight. It works as an electronic pickup request, so the carrier can dispatch a driver without a phone call or portal entry.
How EndlessEDI handles the 216
EndlessEDI sends 216s when outbound freight is ready in Endless, so the carrier is notified from the same record that marks the order shipped.
