EDI 300

EDI 300: Reservation (Booking Request) (Ocean)

A shipper’s or forwarder’s request for space on an ocean vessel.

Direction

Shipper / Forwarder → Ocean carrier

When it’s used

When cargo is close to ready and space needs to be reserved on a sailing.

What is the EDI 300?

The EDI 300 requests an ocean booking: origin and destination, the cargo ready date, the commodity, and the equipment wanted, such as two 40-foot high-cube containers. The carrier answers with a 301 that confirms or changes the booking. In practice most brands book through a freight forwarder, so the 300 usually travels between the forwarder and the carrier and the brand sees the result as a booking number.

How EndlessEDI handles the 300

EndlessEDI sends 300 booking requests tied to the purchase orders and SKUs in the shipment, so the space booked matches real supply.
