Agentic Commerce

Commerce operations where AI agents do the recurring work and people set the rules.

Also known as: agentic commerce operations, autonomous commerce

What is Agentic Commerce?

Agentic commerce describes commerce operations in which AI agents carry out the recurring work — replenishment, order routing, document filing, reconciliation — while people set the rules, handle exceptions, and review what the agents did. The term carries two meanings in current use: agents that run a merchant’s back office, and agents that shop on a consumer’s behalf. Both place the same demand on the merchant, which is a system of record accurate enough that software can act on it without a person verifying first. Brands running on synced copies across several tools meet that bar slowly, because every agent decision inherits whichever copy it happened to read.

How Endless handles it

Endless is built for the first sense. CommerceOS holds every order, SKU, and dollar on one record, and the agent crew runs the operation on top of it rather than reporting on it.

Frequently asked questions

Is agentic commerce the same as automation?

No. Automation runs a fixed rule the same way every time. An agent chooses among options based on the current state of the operation, which is why it needs limits and an audit trail rather than only a schedule.

What does a brand need before agents can run operations?

One accurate record of inventory, orders, and costs across every channel it sells on. Agents acting on reconciled copies inherit whatever the copy got wrong, at machine speed and without anyone reading it first.
