Labeling & packaging

GS1-128 (UCC-128) shipping labels with an SSCC-18 required on all shipments; the SSCC-18 must match the 856 exactly.
GS1-licensed GTINs/UPCs required for accurate product identification on the ASN and invoice.

Connection & portal

Traditional EDI over AS2 or an approved VAN (ANSI X12), or Best Buy’s Web-based EDI for lower-volume vendors.

Onboarding & testing

Reported 4–8 weeks to production cutover, coordinated with Best Buy’s EDI team through the Partner Portal. Best Buy’s own requirement is that EDI850, 860, 810, 824, 856, and 997 all be in production before the first PO is cut. Vendors are reported to need to register for Web-enabled EDI within two months of the first PO. Sequence: Vendor Master Agreement → vendor/partner setup → connection (AS2/VAN or Web EDI) → mapping → certification testing per document → production.

• VPOS (Vendor Performance and Operation Standards) is Best Buy’s scorecard; ASN accuracy, on-time delivery, routing, and document compliance feed it, with deductions/chargebacks for violations.
