EDI Requirements

Lowe’s EDI Requirements

Lowe’s is a home-improvement retailer trading on ANSI X12 (versions 4010/4030). Suppliers manage specs and orders through the LowesLink vendor gateway, sync product content via Syndigo, and must be EDI-integrated before receiving POs once they pass a volume threshold.

Required EDI documents

Document Name Notes
EDI 850 Purchase Order minimum
EDI 855 PO Acknowledgment category-dependent
EDI 856 Advance Ship Notice (ASN) minimum; carton-level detail
EDI 810 Invoice minimum
EDI 824 Application Advice category-dependent
EDI 860 PO Change category-dependent
EDI 846 Inventory Advice supported
EDI 852 Product Activity Data supported
EDI 997 Functional Acknowledgment minimum

Labeling & packaging

  • GS1-128 / UCC-128 carton labels with an SSCC-18; the ASN must carry carton-level detail (each SSCC, SKU + qty, PO).
  • GS1 label-spec compliance is enforced.

Connection & portal

  • ANSI X12 (4010/4030); accepts VAN (preferred), AS2, FTP, and HTTPS.
  • Vendor portal: LowesLink (Lowe’s Vendor Gateway) for spec/implementation-guide downloads and order monitoring; product content via Syndigo.

Onboarding & testing

Suppliers processing more than ~100 orders/year must complete EDI integration before receiving POs. Testing of the 850/855/856/810/997 is coordinated through EDI-Implementation@Lowes.com, including a connectivity test and analyst-led test cycles.

Compliance & chargebacks

  • Reported deductions/chargebacks for missed ASNs, inaccurate labeling, late deliveries, and incomplete EDI; Lowe’s handles these as disputes via the Vendor Inquiry deductions page.
  • ASN timing is reported as required within ~24 hours of carrier pickup; specific OTIF percentages and dollar figures are not published publicly.

Worth knowing

  • Home-improvement assortment — no grocery UCS documents.
  • Drop-ship vendors integrate via LowesLink.

EDI requirements and penalty schedules change and vary by program. Figures marked “reported” come from third-party sources, not the retailer’s published fee schedule — always confirm against the retailer’s current routing guide and your vendor agreement.
